Building Tomorrow Across TU Delft12345678910
TU Delft is less a conventional campus than a continuously evolving experiment. This walk reveals how architects, engineers, scientists, and students test ideas at building and neighborhood scale, often in full public view. Begin with BK City’s resourceful reuse, then compare the Library’s planted roof with the Aula’s monumental concrete. Mekelpark links these landmarks to Pulse and Echo, where energy targets, solar generation, flexible teaching, and social life shape the architecture together. Farther south, the focus shifts from buildings to the people and machines making change happen. Full-scale civil engineering, student-built prototypes, aerospace research, and The Green Village connect classroom ideas to climate adaptation, mobility, and real-world testing. Architecture fans, curious engineers, sustainability enthusiasts, and design-minded travelers will all find something here. The mostly level route works best on a dry weekday, but its strong exteriors and landscapes ensure that the story remains visible even when university interiors are restricted.

BK City

A former chemistry building reborn as Delft’s energetic laboratory for adaptive architectural reuse.

BK City turns a former chemistry complex into a full-scale lesson in reuse. After a fire displaced the architecture faculty, designers rapidly inserted studios, exhibition spaces, and an interior street into the old shell. Peek through windows or enter public areas to see models, drawings, and improvisation everywhere.
